General Accountant role in the Finance and Accounts department.

About the Company
Skinny Genie is a Dubai-based food and lifestyle business operating across two UAE legal entities.
The finance team supports accurate reporting, compliance with UAE GAAP and VAT regulations, and emerging corporate tax obligations.
General Ledger and Close
- Maintain the general ledger and prepare standard and non-standard journal entries.
- Maintain the fixed asset register, including additions, disposals, depreciation and physical verification.
- Execute the month-end close, prepare reconciliations, investigate variances and produce management accounts.
AR, AP, Banking and Cash
- Review accounts receivable aging and follow up on overdue customer balances.
- Reconcile accounts payable sub-ledgers, intercompany transactions and settlements.
- Reconcile AED and multi-currency bank accounts and maintain petty cash records.
- Post receipts, payments, transfers and bank charges with correct general ledger coding.
Tax, Audit and Compliance
- Assist with quarterly UAE VAT returns, VAT ledger reconciliations and FTA documentation.
- Support UAE corporate tax compliance, expense tracking, transfer pricing documentation and entity disclosures.
- Prepare audit schedules and workpapers, liaise with auditors and support statutory filings.
Payroll and Improvement
- Post payroll journals, reconcile payroll liabilities and accrue leave and end-of-service provisions.
- Support budgeting and forecasting, actuals analysis and variance commentary.
- Identify accounting workflow inefficiencies and provide AP and AR coverage when needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
- 3 to 5 years of UAE accounting experience across general ledger, AP, AR and month-end close.
- Sound knowledge of UAE VAT and FTA documentation.
- Hands-on experience with a mainstream ERP such as Microsoft Dynamics, SAP B1, Oracle NetSuite, Tally or Zoho Books.
- Strong Excel skills including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP and SUMIFS.
- Solid double-entry bookkeeping and IFRS-aligned expense recognition knowledge.
- Excellent verbal and written English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Part-qualified or qualified CA, ACCA, CMA or CPA, or actively pursuing one.
- Experience in F&B, retail, FMCG or manufacturing.
- Familiarity with UAE corporate tax, economic substance, WPS payroll or bank portal payments.
- Arabic language skills are advantageous but not required.
