Job Summary
Accord International Advocates & Legal Consultants is seeking a detail-oriented General Accountant for its law firm operations.
The role manages accounting records, client and office accounts, invoices, payments, receivables, payables, court fees, and UAE tax compliance.
Accounting Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate accounting records and financial transactions.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including supplier and client balances.
- Prepare invoices, tax invoices, statements of account, credit notes, and receipts.
- Monitor outstanding client invoices and conduct collection follow-ups.
- Record court fees, professional fees, disbursements, and client-related expenses.
- Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
- Manage petty cash and supporting documentation.
- Process employee salaries and assist with WPS/SIF payroll requirements.
- Prepare monthly financial reports and assist with month-end and year-end closing.
- Prepare schedules for receivables, payables, accruals, prepayments, and other balances.
- Assist with VAT and Corporate Tax compliance and tax filing support.
- Coordinate with auditors and provide requested financial records and reconciliations.
Law Firm-Specific Responsibilities
- Maintain accounting records for legal matters, clients, and case-related transactions.
- Record and monitor court fees and other legal disbursements.
- Prepare invoices based on fee agreements, retainers, professional fees, and agreed billing arrangements.
- Monitor client retainers and outstanding balances.
- Reconcile client accounts and properly support and allocate transactions.
- Coordinate with lawyers and case managers on billing, collections, court fees, and client balances.
- Prepare periodic client Statements of Account.
- Capture and invoice all billable expenses and disbursements.
- Maintain documentation for client funds and transactions in accordance with procedures and regulations.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CMA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification is an advantage.
- Minimum 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Good understanding of UAE VAT and Corporate Tax regulations.
- Experience with payroll and WPS/SIF is an advantage.
- Experience with client accounts, professional fees, court fees, and legal disbursements is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting or ERP systems.
- Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, communication, and confidentiality skills.
- Good written and verbal communication in English is required; Arabic is an advantage.
