Role Overview

  • We are hiring for one of our clients, seeking a Junior Game Developer (Java / libGDX) to work on a contractor basis.
  • This person will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining simple 2D game features using Java and libGDX frameworks, which will help train next generation AI systems.
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in Java and libGDX, and will collaborate closely with AI specialists to design engaging game interactions and collect high quality training data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize simple 2D game features using Java and libGDX frameworks to ensure high quality and engaging game interactions.
  • Collaborate closely with AI specialists to design and implement game mechanics that collect high quality training data for AI models.
  • Implement basic game mechanics, including sprite management, game loops, and input handling, to ensure optimal performance and reliability of game modules.
  • Troubleshoot and debug code to identify and resolve issues, and participate in code reviews to improve internal coding standards.
  • Document technical processes and game development workflows clearly and concisely for cross functional teams.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Java programming language, with experience in developing games using libGDX frameworks, and a strong understanding of game development principles and practices.
  • Strong foundation in computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and software design patterns, with the ability to apply these concepts to game development.
  • Experience with collaborative development tools, such as version control systems, and agile development methodologies, with a strong emphasis on teamwork and communication.
  • Excellent problem solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and develop creative solutions, and a strong attention to detail and quality.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills, with the ability to clearly and concisely document technical processes and game development workflows.
