Electrical Draftsman – Job Description

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed electrical shop drawings and construction drawings using AutoCAD and/or Revit MEP.
• Prepare layouts for lighting, power, small power, emergency lighting, and electrical containment systems .
• Develop drawings for cable trays, cable trunking, conduits, DBs, SMDBs, MDBs, and electrical equipment .
• Prepare single-line diagrams (SLDs), schematic diagrams, riser diagrams, and electrical details .
• Coordinate electrical services with HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, architectural, and structural systems .
• Review engineering drawings and specifications to ensure accurate drafting and detailing.
• Identify and resolve drawing discrepancies and coordination issues.
• Prepare and update drawings based on consultant/client comments and site requirements .
• Prepare as-built drawings based on actual site installation.
• Assist with electrical quantity take-offs, schedules, and material documentation when required.
• Maintain proper drawing revisions, references, and documentation.
• Coordinate with engineers, BIM coordinators, consultants, subcontractors, and site teams.
• Ensure all drawings comply with project specifications, standards, and approved designs.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering / Electrical & Electronics Engineering preferred.
• Strong knowledge of building electrical systems and MEP services .
• Proficiency in AutoCAD ; knowledge of Revit MEP is an advantage.
• Good understanding of lighting, power, containment, cable routing, DBs, and electrical equipment .
• Ability to read and interpret electrical, architectural, structural, and MEP drawings .
• Knowledge of electrical drafting standards and construction practices.
• Strong coordination and attention to detail.
• Ability to work under deadlines and handle multiple project requirements.
