The position
Manage front-desk activities including reception, check-in and check-out, cashiering, foreign exchange, and guest inquiries.
Key roles and responsibilities
- Register and assign rooms to guest arrivals according to established procedures.
- Perform check-in, check-out, and room-change procedures with accurate hotel-system data entry.
- Maintain cashier float and prepare accurate daily reports of money received.
- Cash guest transactions and assist with currency exchange.
- Keep current with accounting policies and procedures.
- Assist guests with the hotel safety box.
- Maintain knowledge of seasonal packages, frequent-flyer programs, promotions, and hotel loyalty programs.
- Handle guest complaints, inquiries, and requests; refer unresolved issues to a supervisor or assistant manager.
- Promote onward bookings at other Sofitel properties when appropriate.
- Ensure guests leave with a positive impression of hotel service.
- Prepare audit balances and reports; complete night and morning reports on night shifts.
- Maintain reservation knowledge, department standards, a clean work area, credit-policy compliance, OH&S compliance, and assigned projects.
Personal attributes and qualifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to build rapport with colleagues and management.
