Forward-Deployed Mechanical Engineer

Partner directly with customers : Work side‑by‑side with owners, general contractors, and design teams to translate design intent into actionable equipment bills of material (BOMs).

Lead strategic buy‑outs : Scope, source, and negotiate purchase of chillers, boilers, air‑handling units, packaged rooftop units, cooling towers, pumps, and other HVAC and mechanical systems.

Evaluate and level bids : Review submittals, vet supplier deviations, and drive value‑engineering opportunities that reduce cost and schedule without compromising performance or energy efficiency.

Leverage BuildVision’s platform : Use our software to level quotes, track material status, and surface risk early—providing transparent updates to all stakeholders.

Manage supplier relationships : Cultivate long‑term partnerships with OEMs, distributors, and manufacturer reps to secure optimal pricing, lead times, and technical support.

Provide on‑site technical support : Attend factory witness tests, site inspections, and critical installation milestones; rapidly resolve field issues.

Feedback insights internally : Relay customer pain‑points and market trends to product and engineering teams to continuously improve our tools and workflows.

Experience : 6+ years in mechanical equipment design, applications, sales, or field service—preferably with an OEM such as Trane, Carrier, Daikin, or Johnson Controls.

Technical depth : Strong knowledge of HVAC system design, psychrometrics, load calculations, ASHRAE 90.1 compliance, energy modeling, and hydronic/pumped‑fluid systems.

Procurement savvy : Demonstrated success driving savings and lead‑time reductions through strategic sourcing and supplier negotiation.

Client‑facing skills : Excellent communicator who can translate between field crews, design engineers, and executive decision‑makers.

Mobility : Willingness to travel ~30–40% of the time to customer sites and manufacturing facilities (mostly regional).
