Role Overview

Oversee designated fleet assets and drivers to achieve high levels of productivity, safety, service, and driver retention.

Coordinate delivery of wood products while upholding quality and safety standards.

Fleet and Team Leadership

  • Supervise drivers, equipment, and shipments at designated locations.
  • Generate and share performance, productivity, and profitability reports.
  • Mentor, motivate, and develop employees while building a high-performing team.
  • Collaborate with Driver Services on driver recruitment, onboarding, training, placement, and pay.

Coordination and Compliance

  • Coordinate with sales, procurement, safety, driver services, logistics, and operations stakeholders.
  • Monitor driver performance and compliance with local, state, federal, and DOT regulations.
  • Manage risks and implement safety standards in the flatbed division.
  • Coach drivers on safety events, observations, and complaints and assist with progressive discipline.

Continuous Improvement

  • Maintain a focus on continuous improvement of the New South Express business model.
  • Prioritize multiple time-sensitive tasks while maintaining accuracy and service quality.

Education and Experience

  • Post-secondary degree, preferably in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field, or equivalent related experience.
  • 1–2 years of experience working with commercial motor vehicles and drivers.
  • Management experience is preferred.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong computer skills and experience with modern office software and reporting tools.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to build, lead, and retain a successful team.
  • High organization, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strategic mindset to drive continuous improvement.
