Role Description
The Fleet Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing fleet maintenance operations, vehicle reliability programs, and asset management activities to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective transportation operations.
This role focuses on preventive maintenance, repair coordination, fleet performance monitoring, compliance management, and operational optimization while minimizing downtime and extending vehicle lifecycle performance.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Managing fleet maintenance operations, vehicle servicing schedules, and repair coordination activities
- Developing and implementing preventive and corrective maintenance programs for fleet assets
- Monitoring fleet KPIs, vehicle uptime, fuel efficiency, maintenance costs, and operational performance indicators
- Collaborating with logistics, transportation, procurement, operations, and safety teams on fleet management initiatives
- Conducting root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and reliability assessments for vehicle and equipment issues
- Managing vendor relationships, spare parts inventory, maintenance contracts, and procurement coordination activities
- Ensuring compliance with transportation regulations, safety standards, inspection requirements, and operational governance policies
- Preparing maintenance reports, fleet performance analysis, and operational updates for management review
- Driving process improvement, cost optimization, and operational efficiency initiatives within fleet operations
- Managing CMMS systems, fleet tracking platforms, maintenance records, and asset documentation processes
- Leading fleet maintenance teams, technician workforce planning, and technical capability development programs
- Supporting fleet modernization, sustainability initiatives, and digital maintenance transformation projects where applicable
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Logistics, Operations Management, or related field
- 5–10 years of experience in fleet maintenance, transportation operations, vehicle reliability, or asset management roles
- Strong understanding of fleet operations, preventive maintenance, vehicle diagnostics, and asset lifecycle management
- Experience with CMMS systems, fleet management software, GPS tracking systems, and maintenance reporting platforms
- Knowledge of transportation safety standards, regulatory compliance, and operational governance practices
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities
- Ability to manage multiple operational priorities and maintenance projects effectively
- Strong safety awareness and cost-management mindset
- Experience in logistics, transportation, construction, manufacturing, utilities, mining, or industrial fleet environments is an advantage
