About the Role

Join a team delivering the mechanical systems behind some of Australia's most complex rail and transport infrastructure projects.

We're seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer (Fire Protection) to lead and support the design of critical mechanical drainage, pumped and wet fire systems across major rail, tunnel and underground infrastructure projects. Working alongside multidisciplinary teams, you'll provide technical leadership, influence key engineering decisions and contribute to the successful delivery of nationally significant projects.

This is an opportunity to apply your expertise to technically challenging infrastructure projects, collaborate with recognised industry specialists and shape the performance of critical transport assets that support how communities move and connect. You'll have the chance to take ownership of complex engineering challenges, broaden your technical leadership skills and help develop the next generation of engineers within a growing project pipeline.

Key responsibilities include:

Leading the design and technical delivery of mechanical drainage, pumped and wet fire systems

Applying hydraulic engineering principles to complex infrastructure challenges

Reviewing designs for technical quality, constructability and operational performance

Supporting risk assessments, design reviews and assurance processes

Working closely with civil, electrical, rail systems and operations teams

Building strong relationships with clients, contractors and project stakeholders

Mentoring graduate and developing engineers

About You

You're a technically capable engineer who enjoys solving complex problems and working collaboratively on multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.

You bring experience in mechanical infrastructure systems and are comfortable providing technical guidance, making sound engineering decisions and communicating effectively with a range of stakeholders.

Experience in rail, transport or tunnel projects is highly regarded, however we also welcome applications from engineers working in water, mining, utilities or other infrastructure sectors who have experience in:

Pumped systems and hydraulics

Mechanical drainage systems

Pressure pipework and pipeline infrastructure

Wet fire or fire protection systems

Large-scale multidisciplinary projects
