Opportunity Overview

  • Our client is a leading international law firm recognised globally for its strength in technology, payments, digital regulation, and financial services innovation.
  • The Dubai office is a core hub for the firm’s Middle East practice, advising on complex cross‑border mandates across FinTech, Payments, TMT, Corporate, Funds, and Financial Regulation.
  • The firm is seeking to appoint a senior solicitor and will consider Senior Associates, Counsel or Partner level candidates with expertise in Payments & Financial Services Regulation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow the firm’s Payments, FinTech & Digital Assets regulatory practice in the Middle East.
  • Advise on licensing and regulatory approvals for PSPs, EMIs, digital asset exchanges, custodians, lending/embedded finance platforms, and venture funds.
  • Act as primary liaison with ADGM FSRA, VARA, CBUAE, DFSA, SAMA, and other regulators.
  • Advise on regulatory strategy, product rollout, AML frameworks, governance, and ongoing compliance.
  • Support colleagues on FinTech M&A, venture capital, strategic partnerships, and commercial arrangements.
  • Collaborate with the firm’s global FinTech and TMT teams on EU/UK regulatory mandates.
  • Work with sovereign wealth funds, high‑growth FinTechs, digital asset platforms, and institutional investors expanding into the region.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • A financial services regulatory specialist with deep experience in payments, digital assets, and licensing.
  • Strong track record securing regulatory approvals (e.g., MTF, custody, PSP, EMI, lending, VASP licences).
  • Experience engaging with ADGM/FSRA, VARA, CBUAE, DFSA, SAMA, or equivalent regulators.
  • Ability to originate and deliver complex cross‑border mandates.
  • Corporate/commercial capability to support FinTech transactions and strategic partnerships.
  • International outlook and ability to work seamlessly with global teams.
  • Existing client relationships in FinTech, payments, digital assets, or financial services will be highly valued.
