About the Opportunity
The Financial Controller oversees the Canadian finance function, including financial reporting, controls, compliance, and transactional finance.
The role leads a finance team, strengthens governance and reporting, drives continuous improvement, and supports strategic decision-making.
Availability
- This is a hybrid role with one to two days in the Surrey, British Columbia office.
Finance Leadership and Reporting
- Oversee Canadian accounting, reporting, financial control, and transactional finance, including direct management of finance staff.
- Deliver monthly and quarterly reporting and KPIs, and improve reporting capabilities.
- Prepare budgets, forecasts, long-range plans, and investment models.
- Monitor forecasting accuracy, risks, opportunities, and profit improvement actions.
Compliance, Controls, and Governance
- Manage financial compliance, regulatory matters, quarterly SOX reporting, and internal controls.
- Ensure reporting and accounting comply with local and US GAAP policies.
- Lead statutory audits and prepare statutory financial statements.
- Oversee tax compliance, reporting, audits, and transfer pricing studies.
Treasury and Business Partnership
- Protect the company credit position by controlling the debtor ledger and ensuring timely creditor payments.
- Partner with business leaders and stakeholders to provide financial insight and support growth and informed decisions.
Transformation and People Leadership
- Lead finance transformation, reporting automation, continuous improvement, and company-wide initiatives.
- Develop a high-performing team through coaching, performance reviews, recruitment, development plans, and regular one-to-one conversations.
What You'll Bring
- CPA designation and at least 5 years of post-designation experience.
- Experience in the SaaS and/or technology sector.
- Experience leading, transforming, and building accounting teams.
- Experience communicating and presenting at a senior leadership level.
- Experience in a regulated or globally listed organization involving US GAAP, SOX, IFRS, or local GAAP.
- Microsoft Dynamics, Business Central, or NetSuite experience is preferred.
Finance Technology and Tools
- Finance systems include Microsoft Business Central, Great Plains, JD Edwards, Oracle HFM, and Oracle PBCS.
- CRM platforms include Salesforce and HubSpot.
- Productivity tools include Microsoft Office Suite.
Compensation and Benefits
- The posted base salary range is $120,000 CAD to $135,000 CAD.
- Benefits include RRSP matching, health coverage, paid vacation, paid flex days, and a paid birthday day.
