About the Opportunity
The Financial Controller will oversee the Canadian finance function, including financial reporting, controls, compliance, and transactional finance.
The role leads a finance team, strengthens governance and reporting, drives continuous improvement, and partners with business leaders on growth and strategic decisions.
Availability and Workplace
- This is a hybrid role requiring one to two days in the Surrey, British Columbia office.
Finance Leadership and Reporting
- Oversee Canadian accounting, reporting, financial control, and transactional finance, including direct management of finance staff.
- Deliver monthly and quarterly reporting and KPIs and improve reporting capabilities.
- Prepare budgets, forecasts, long-range plans, profit-improvement plans, and investment models.
Compliance and Governance
- Manage financial compliance, regulatory matters, quarterly SOX reporting, and internal controls.
- Ensure compliance with relevant local and U.S. GAAP policies.
- Lead statutory audits, statutory financial statement preparation, tax compliance, reporting, audits, and transfer-pricing studies.
Business Partnership and Transformation
- Partner with business leaders and stakeholders to provide financial insight and support growth and informed decision-making.
- Lead finance transformation, reporting automation, continuous-improvement, and company-wide initiatives.
- Protect the credit position of the company and maintain control of receivables and payables.
People Leadership
- Lead, recruit, coach, and develop a high-performing finance team.
- Set development plans, conduct performance reviews, and maintain a trusting, collaborative, and inclusive environment.
What You’ll Bring
- CPA designation and at least five years of post-designation experience.
- Experience in the SaaS and/or technology sector and a record of leading, transforming, and building accounting teams.
- Experience presenting to senior leadership and influencing stakeholders on technically complex financial issues.
- Experience in a highly regulated or globally listed organization using US GAAP, SOX, IFRS, or local GAAP.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics, Business Central, or NetSuite is preferred.
Finance Technology and Tools
- Finance systems listed include Microsoft Business Central, Great Plains, JD Edwards, Oracle HFM, and Oracle PBCS.
- CRM platforms listed include Salesforce and HubSpot; Microsoft Office Suite is also used.
Compensation
- The posted base salary range is $120,000 CAD to $135,000 CAD.
