The company is transitioning from corporate-level accounting to full job costing and implementing HCSS HeavyBid and HeavyJob.
The business is developing formal tracking, reporting, and cost-code structures.
The Role
The Financial Controller will build and operate job costing from the ground up.
The role is hands-on and reports directly to the Owner.
The Controller will work with the Director of Operations and an external tracking and reporting consultant.
Responsibilities
- Build accounting-level job costing by linking project controls data to the general ledger.
- Establish and manage accounts receivable and accounts payable tracking by project.
- Oversee payroll-by-job tracking through Wagepoint.
- Coordinate cost codes and scope codes with the tracking and reporting consultant.
- Manage external bookkeeper and accountant relationships during the transition to job-level accounting.
- Produce monthly financial statements, job cost reports, and cash flow visibility.
- Build internal controls and accounting policies as the company scales.
- Support project and company budgeting and forecasting.
What You Bring
- CPA designation.
- Three to five years of Controller experience in the construction industry.
- Direct experience with job costing and construction ERP or accounting systems.
- HCSS HeavyBid or HeavyJob experience is a strong plus.
- Ability to build processes from scratch rather than only operate existing processes.
- Strong Excel skills and comfort working with raw project data.
- High attention to detail.
