Key skills for this role
This is the job that keeps our aircraft flying after the sale. As a Field Service Representative, you're Skyways on the ground at a customer's site: deploying the aircraft, maintaining it, and fixing what breaks so their missions stay on schedule. When an aircraft goes down, you're the one who gets it back up.
Some days you're at our Austin shop or flight test site. Most days you're on the road, often internationally, running a customer site with limited backup and owning the outcome. It's hands-on, it's high-trust, and it moves. If you want a predictable desk job, this isn't it. If you like being the person customers rely on when it matters, you'll do well here.
Deploy to customer sites as Skyways' on-site rep and keep aircraft available, mission-ready, and flying against a 95%+ readiness bar
Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance: multi-fuel power-system service and swaps, batteries, motors, ESCs, and consumables, per the maintenance manual
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, RF/datalink, and firmware issues in the field, and fix them on the spot when you can
Escalate what you can't solve to MRO and Engineering with real context (symptoms, tail number, config, flight data) and drive it to resolution
Hit our service commitments: acknowledge issues fast and restore aircraft-down situations first
Keep the records honest: daily logbooks, maintenance history, and per-tail configuration control, current every day
Stand up new sites and redeployments: setup, systems install, functional check flights, radio/datalink checks, route validation, rehearsals, and handover
Manage on-site spares and AOG (aircraft-on-ground) response so a missing part doesn't ground the mission
Feed what you learn in the field back to Engineering so the same problem doesn't keep coming back
Be the customer's trusted point of contact and represent their needs back inside Skyways
3+ years maintaining and supporting real aircraft or UAS in the field (Group 3 UAS or similar a plus)
