The Field Operations Manager is accountable for industrial crane service profitability, field operations personnel, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence in an assigned territory or branch.
The role uses systematic KPI management to improve customer retention, order execution, profitability, process efficiency, reporting, safety, and operational growth.
The position reports to the Territory Operations Manager.
Principal responsibilities
- Manage safety activities, field operations personnel, customer satisfaction, productivity, branch profitability, and company assets.
- Directly manage Field Supervisors, Inspectors, Technicians, Site Managers, and Site Supervisors.
- Coordinate with Planning and Project Management for sold service work and maintain scheduling visibility.
- Resolve customer concerns through the Voice of Customer process.
- Maintain equipment and assets in good working order and in compliance with applicable safety standards.
Detailed duties
- Ensure monthly safety meetings, toolbox talks, vehicle and equipment inspections, and field audits follow established guidelines.
- Ensure all field operatives meet the target for 100% POWRA completion.
- Ensure customer concerns and complaints are resolved to the customer's satisfaction and in Konecranes' best interest.
- Ensure work in progress is scheduled or tentatively scheduled on the planning board.
- Manage productivity according to targeted metrics.
- Manage the gross margin and profitability of the branch operation.
Experience and capabilities
- Minimum five years of experience as a manager in a customer service operations role; equivalent experience, education, and training may be considered.
- Previous experience managing a customer-facing field service business is preferred.
- Leadership experience, well-developed people skills, and a strong understanding of mechanical and electrical principles are required.
- Good written and verbal communication skills and good PC skills are required.
Other requirements
- The role requires a good driving record that can be maintained.
- The role requires travel as needed, including overnight trips, estimated at 10% to 20%.
- This is a safety-sensitive position.
