Platform Engineering and Support
- Act as the primary F5 SME for enterprise infrastructure environments.
- Design, implement, configure, and maintain F5 application delivery and security platforms.
- Lead upgrades, migrations, patching, and technology refresh activities.
- Provide Level 3 support for complex incidents and troubleshoot critical platform, networking, and security issues.
- Perform capacity planning, optimisation, and continuous improvement.
Architecture and Delivery
- Contribute to architecture reviews, solution design workshops, and technical governance.
- Lead F5 implementation activities across multiple projects and technology initiatives.
- Develop implementation plans, testing strategies, rollback procedures, and deployment documentation.
- Support application onboarding, release management, and production deployment activities.
Security and Operations
- Implement and maintain F5 Advanced WAF security controls and secure application delivery services.
- Support audit, compliance, vulnerability remediation, and security improvement initiatives.
- Create technical documentation, operational procedures, standards, and support playbooks.
- Identify opportunities for automation, operational efficiency, and platform modernisation.
Required Experience
- At least 8 years of experience in network security, application delivery, or infrastructure engineering.
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience designing, implementing, and supporting F5 platforms.
- Strong expertise in F5 BIG-IP LTM, F5 DNS/GTM, F5 Advanced WAF/ASM, and F5 iRules.
- Strong knowledge of SSL offloading, load balancing, traffic management, and application delivery networking.
- Knowledge of high availability, disaster recovery, business continuity, certificates, health monitoring, and performance optimisation.
- Strong networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, routing and switching, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, NAT, DNS, and DHCP.
- Experience delivering F5 deployments, migrations, upgrades, and transformation projects.
- Experience supporting business-critical production environments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, network engineering, cybersecurity, or a related discipline.
- F5-CA, F5-CTS, or F5-CSE certification is highly regarded.
- CCNP Enterprise or CCNP Security certification is desirable.
- CISSP certification is advantageous.
- Azure Network Engineer Associate or equivalent cloud networking certification is highly regarded.
Desirable Experience
- Telecommunications or large-scale enterprise infrastructure experience.
- Knowledge of Check Point, Palo Alto, Fortinet, or Cisco security platforms.
- Exposure to Azure and AWS networking and security services.
- Experience with infrastructure as code, automation, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Understanding of Zero Trust architecture and cloud-native application delivery integrations.
