Role overview

Serve as department head for the Butler program and lead the delivery of high-touch, personalized luxury guest services.

Manage Butlers and Butler Valets while coordinating service with Front Office, Housekeeping, Engineering, and other departments.

Candidate profile

  • Complete a formal butler training program.
  • Meet one of two pathways: high school diploma or GED plus 2 years of related experience, or a relevant 2-year degree with no work experience.
  • Relevant degree fields include Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related major.
  • Strong service, leadership, interpersonal, communication, and technology skills are required.

Managing Butler services

  • Manage daily Butler services operations, including pre-arrival activities, the Butler Service Desk, and Butler staff.
  • Manage VIP guests, guest preferences, schedules, privacy, and confidentiality.
  • Conduct daily stand-ups, communicate updates and goals, and assign work based on check-ins and VIP guests.
  • Build cooperation among Butler team members and departments connected to guest service.
  • Model service standards and train and mentor Butler team members and other departments.

Front office and guest relations

  • Lead and influence employees through sound decisions, integrity, communication, and role modeling.
  • Supervise employees and day-to-day operations, including Front Office coverage when management is absent.
  • Coach team members to build rapport, anticipate needs, maintain discretion, and resolve guest concerns.
  • Verify that guest requests are addressed professionally, positively, and promptly.

Financial management

  • Manage operating areas to budget by reviewing operating statements, budget worksheets, and payroll reports.
  • Control departmental expenses and cost per occupied room to meet or exceed budget goals.
  • Approve product and supply budgeting and ordering for Butler services.
  • Manage the departmental budget to support overall property financial goals.

Human resources activities

  • Interview, hire, develop, and evaluate Butler team members with skills aligned to business needs.
  • Communicate performance expectations and monitor employee progress.
  • Review staffing levels, create schedules, and monitor attendance using human resources software.
  • Maintain collaborative employee relationships and verify that employee recognition occurs.

  • The role is based at the Palm Jumeirah property and includes on-site guest service operations.
