Role overview
Macquarie Group's software and data engineers work in an autonomous environment focused on innovation, continuous learning, and technical excellence.
The Data Engineer will build and maintain data services and data pipelines using industry best practices.
What you will do
- Build and maintain data services and data pipelines.
- Develop and maintain high-quality software using DevOps practices.
- Automate testing and delivery.
- Maintain high code quality, testing, and security standards.
- Use AI-assisted development tools to deliver robust, high-performing data pipelines.
- Develop expertise in the business context supporting the data services.
Required qualifications
- Strong data engineering expertise with Hadoop, Spark, Airflow, Hive, Parquet, ORC, and Avro.
- Proficiency with cloud-based data platforms, particularly AWS, including hands-on AWS Glue experience.
- Experience designing scalable data solutions.
- Advanced Python, SQL, and shell scripting skills for data processing and ETL/ELT workflows.
- Experience with CI/CD and automation tools, including Bamboo and Ansible.
- Ability to use AI-assisted development tools such as Claude AI and GitHub Copilot.
