The role reviews drawings, BOQs, specifications, and project requirements; performs quantity take-offs; prepares costing; and obtains supplier and subcontractor quotations.
The Estimator coordinates with design, production, procurement, project management, and site teams to verify quantities, identify scope gaps, and ensure accurate pricing.
Key Responsibilities
- Review architectural, interior, joinery, and technical drawings.
- Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and BOQs.
- Estimate custom joinery, carpentry, cabinetry, doors, wall cladding, partitions, counters, furniture, and interior fit-out works.
- Calculate material, labour, manufacturing, installation, transportation, and other project costs.
- Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
- Maintain updated material and supplier price databases.
- Prepare accurate and competitive project quotations.
- Identify scope discrepancies, exclusions, variations, and potential risks.
- Coordinate with design, production, procurement, project management, and site teams.
- Support value engineering and cost-saving proposals.
- Review tender documents and prepare tender submissions.
- Maintain estimate records, follow up on quotations, and assist with commercial negotiations when required.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Proven experience as an Estimator, Quantity Surveyor, or Cost Estimator in joinery, carpentry, interior fit-out, or construction is required.
- Strong knowledge of joinery and interior fit-out materials, finishes, and manufacturing processes is required.
- Ability to interpret architectural, interior, joinery, and technical drawings is required.
- Strong quantity take-off and costing skills are required.
- Good knowledge of Excel and estimation or costing software is required.
- Basic to advanced AutoCAD knowledge is preferred.
- Understanding of material pricing, labour costs, production costs, and installation requirements is required.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills are required.
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, communication, and coordination skills are required.
- Ability to manage multiple quotations and meet tight tender deadlines is required.
- Knowledge of Qatar or GCC construction market rates and suppliers is advantageous.
- A relevant qualification and previous Qatar or GCC experience are preferred or advantageous.
