Estimation Engineer (Electrical)-Switchgear

POWERGRID POWER CONTROL & SWITCHGEARS L.L.C. is a low-voltage electrical panel manufacturer based in the industrial area of Sharjah, UAE, serving clients across the Middle East.

The company designs, assembles, wires, and tests panels in accordance with IEC 61439, supplying MEP contractors, consultants, facilities management firms, and industrial customers.

Its product range includes main and sub-main distribution boards, final distribution boards, motor control centers, PLC and control panels, capacitor and power factor correction panels, ATS and changeover panels, feeder pillars, and outdoor kiosks.

The company also provides services such as annual maintenance contracts, panel modifications and upgrades, and emergency breakdown support.

Each panel is individually routine-tested and delivered with complete documentation, emphasizing engineering quality, traceability, and direct access to the engineering team.

This is a full-time remote role for an Estimation Engineer (Electrical) specializing in switchgear.

The role involves preparing accurate cost estimates and technical proposals for low-voltage switchgear panels and related electrical distribution systems based on tender documents, drawings, and specifications.

The Estimation Engineer will review and interpret client requirements, select appropriate switchgear components, prepare bills of quantities, and coordinate with sales and engineering teams to finalize offers.

Day-to-day responsibilities include analyzing project tenders, obtaining and evaluating supplier quotations, ensuring compliance with IEC standards and project specifications, and maintaining up-to-date pricing and technical data.

The role also involves supporting customer queries, participating in clarification meetings (virtually), and collaborating with internal stakeholders to optimize solutions that balance technical integrity and cost efficiency.

• Strong knowledge of low-voltage electrical distribution systems, switchgear, and panel board configurations (MDB, SMDB, MCC, PLC, capacitor banks, ATS, feeder pillars).
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical single-line diagrams, layout drawings, schedules, and technical specifications.
• Experience in estimation, costing, and proposal preparation for LV switchgear or related electrical projects, including BOQ preparation and price analysis.
• Familiarity with IEC standards (especially IEC 61439) and relevant industry codes, with a solid understanding of IP ratings, fault levels, and forms of separation.
• Competence in using MS Office (Excel, Word), and basic CAD or engineering software tools for reviewing drawings and documenting offers.
• Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in technical and commercial documentation.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to collaborate remotely with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
