Job Overview
The role focuses on estimation for offshore, marine, shipbuilding, and oil and gas projects.
The position is based in the UAE and has an in-person work location.
The stated pay is AED 10,000–15,000 per month.
Estimation and Tendering
- Review RFQs, ITBs, tender documents, drawings, specifications, and scopes of work.
- Prepare technical and commercial cost estimates, BOQs, MTOs, man-hour estimates, and cost breakdowns.
- Estimate manpower, materials, equipment, subcontracting, fabrication, installation, testing, and commissioning costs.
- Prepare quotation and commercial proposals and support timely tender submissions.
Coordination and Evaluation
- Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, Projects, Operations, and Commercial teams.
- Obtain, evaluate, and compare supplier and subcontractor quotations.
- Participate in technical and commercial clarification meetings with clients and contractors.
- Assist Business Development and Commercial teams with competitive bids.
Cost Control and Records
- Develop estimation sheets and maintain cost databases, historical costs, quotations, and project data.
- Identify project risks, exclusions, assumptions, and commercial clarifications.
- Maintain proper records of estimates and supporting commercial information.
Technical Standards
- Review client specifications and applicable offshore, marine, Class Society, and international standards.
- Analyze engineering drawings and documents to identify quantities and project requirements.
- Apply knowledge of fabrication, installation, inspection, testing, and offshore execution activities.
Qualifications and Experience
- A bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Marine, Naval Architecture, Civil, or a related engineering discipline is required.
- 5–10 years of relevant experience in estimation, tendering, or costing is required.
- Experience with offshore, marine, oil and gas, shipbuilding, or EPC projects is required.
- Experience preparing MTOs, BOQs, man-hour calculations, and cost estimates is required.
- Good knowledge of MS Excel and other estimation or costing tools is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with DNV, ABS, BV, LR, or similar Class Society requirements is an advantage.
- UAE or GCC experience is preferred.
- Tamil-speaking ability is preferred.
Project Exposure
- Relevant project areas include offshore platforms and modules, jack-up and semi-submersible rigs, drilling equipment, accommodation modules, vessels, shipbuilding, and structural fabrication.
- Additional exposure may include piping and mechanical works, offshore installation and modification, repair and maintenance, design projects, and oil and gas EPC projects.
