Responsibilities

- Participate in mooring of vessels and port security
- Input and complete work orders and required documentation
Requirements
- High School or GED
- 18 years of age minimum
- Speak, read and write in English at a proficient level
- Experience in operation of front end loaders, backhoes, skid steers, excavators, and other heavy equipment preferred
- Mechanically inclined and willingness to undertake equipment and facility maintenance tasks
- Must be able to work with a team, take direction, adhere to work schedules, and follow work rules

- Savage is hiring an Operator/Material Handler in Sydney, Nova Scotia!!
- 10 hour shift schedule x 4 days (due to customer demands, must be willing to work additional shifts, including weekends, holidays and overtime as needed).
Here’s a preview of what you’ll be doing
- Safely perform the basic tasks required to offload coal vessels, and load trains and trucks with coal using equipment like front end loaders.
- Interact with International and domestic vessels and their crews.
- Operate the coal handling system.
- Operate industrial mobile equipment.
- Perform general maintenance on equipment and facilities.

This Is What We Need From You
- Experience in the operation of front end loaders, backhoes, skid steers, excavators, and other heavy equipment preferred.
- Mechanically inclined, and willingness to undertake equipment and facility maintenance tasks.
- Must be able to safely perform the essential functions of the job.
- Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisors(s), adhere to required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules with minimal supervision.
- MFSO or PWSR certification, an asset (not required).
Minimum Requirements
- High School or GED.
- 2 5 years of experience preferred, but not required.
- 18 years of age minimum.
- Speak, read and write in English at a proficient level.
