Manage landfill post closure and remedial projects in $3m/yr. range at closed facilities located in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland.
The successful candidate must be able to coordinate work and cashflow to achieve the desired outcomes.
This role has heavy focus on environmental compliance and regulatory affairs.
Strongly Preferred skills:
• Knowledge of environmental regulations, health, safety, and contract management; supervisory experience; computer-based word processing, data management and information presentation skills.
• Possess written and verbal communication skills, computer skills (e.g. MS Office and Power BI familiarity) and ability to learn other job-related technical software. Including, but not limited to “App” based technologies to facilitate digital inspections, reporting and data/analytics.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Other minor duties may be assigned.
• Supervise site contractors and/or consultants performing operations and maintenance work at assigned sites to ensure the quality and timeliness of the work.
• Conducts, provides oversite, and ensures smooth operations including performance of routine operation, monitoring and maintenance, and construction activities. Monitors permitting and compliance issues.
• Minimize operational costs while maximizing productivity and maintaining safety and environmental compliance.
• Possess or efficiently gain a solid working knowledge of all site-specific system operation and maintenance requirements, including landfill gas management systems and controls, leachate management systems and controls, water treatment systems and controls, landfill cover systems, surface water management systems and controls, and environmental monitoring networks, as well as other ancillary equipment and site maintenance requirements.
• Acts as a liaison, where necessary, in regulatory and community relationships.
• Complies with and ensures adherence to Waste Management’s Mission to Zero standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations.
• Meets all financial review dates and corporate directed programs in a timely fashion.
• Oversee certain personnel needs of the department including selecting, coaching, and training employees and evaluating employee performance. Provides input into termination, compensation, and promotion decisions.
• Assists in the budget process, as required, and adhere to those budgets at assigned sites.
• Ensures the cleanliness and maintenance of the physical property of the landfill through inspections and preventive maintenance programs with supervisors/employees.
• Conducts and/or attends and contributes to periodic safety meetings to maintain favorable working relationships among employees and promote maximum morale, productivity, and efficiency.
• Provides training and job-related presentations as needed in a positive and professional manner.
• Prepare or update and submit required reports in a timely manner.
Supervisory Responsibilities The highest level of supervisory skills required in this job is the management of supervisory employees.

Direct supervision of 15-20 contractors and/or technical consultants
