Responsibilities
- Develop and implement environmental compliance strategies, governance frameworks, policies, standards, and procedures aligned with organizational objectives, regulatory requirements, and sustainability commitments
- Lead environmental compliance programs covering air emissions, water management, wastewater, hazardous materials, waste management, pollution prevention, chemical handling, environmental permitting, and environmental reporting
- Collaborate with operations, engineering, manufacturing, facilities, EHS, legal, quality assurance, sustainability, procurement, project management, and executive leadership to ensure environmental compliance across all business activities
- Ensure compliance with local, national, and international environmental laws, regulations, permits, environmental management systems, and industry standards while maintaining strong regulatory relationships
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) including environmental compliance rates, audit findings, permit compliance, waste reduction, emissions performance, resource consumption, environmental incidents, corrective action completion, and sustainability objectives
- Conduct environmental risk assessments, compliance audits, site inspections, environmental impact assessments, regulatory gap analyses, and root cause investigations while implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- Develop and maintain environmental management systems (EMS), compliance registers, environmental procedures, monitoring programs, emergency response plans, and regulatory documentation to support operational excellence
- Lead environmental reporting activities including regulatory submissions, permit renewals, environmental monitoring reports, sustainability metrics, greenhouse gas (GHG) reporting, and internal governance reporting
- Promote environmental awareness through employee training, compliance education, sustainability initiatives, environmental campaigns, and cross functional engagement programs
- Manage relationships with environmental regulators, consultants, auditors, laboratories, waste management providers, environmental service contractors, and external stakeholders to ensure effective compliance and environmental performance
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Sustainability, Environmental Management, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field preferred
- 5+ years of experience in environmental compliance, environmental management, EHS, sustainability, regulatory affairs, or related roles
- 2+ years of experience managing environmental compliance programs, regulatory initiatives, environmental audits, or environmental management systems preferred
- Strong understanding of environmental legislation, ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems, environmental permitting, waste management, pollution prevention, hazardous materials management, environmental auditing, sustainability principles, and regulatory compliance
- Experience with EMS platforms, ERP systems, Microsoft Office Suite, Power BI, GIS software, environmental monitoring systems, compliance management platforms, and reporting tools
- Strong leadership, analytical, organizational, regulatory, project management, and problem solving skills
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, presentation, negotiation, report writing, and cross functional collaboration abilities
- Ability to lead enterprise environmental compliance initiatives while balancing operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, environmental stewardship, sustainability goals, and business objectives
- Ability to work independently in on site and hybrid environments with occasional travel to operational sites, regulatory meetings, audits, and inspections as required

- Strong understanding of environmental legislation, ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems, environmental permitting, waste management, pollution prevention, hazardous materials management, environmental auditing, sustainability principles, and regulatory compliance
