The Engineering Manager leads Engineering teams, managing projects, budgets and resources while ensuring alignment with organizational goals and fostering team development.
Responsibility
- Develop and implement engineering strategies aligned with company goals, vision, and core values
- Maintain balance between customer, employee and financial satisfaction by maximizing facility/department Performance Indicators to align to Linamar’s Stepping Stool of Success Strategy.
- Act as the main customer liaison to ensure their inquiries and requirements are met, prepare quotations, and cost estimations
- Prepare technical presentations for customers and Executive Management.
- Oversee the planning, execution and delivery of Engineering projects on time and within budget and ensure all Engineering activities comply with laws, regulations, standards, and internal procedures
- Allocate resources effectively, including budgeting, staffing and capital purchases of equipment
- Lead and mentor the Engineering team, fostering innovation and collaboration
- Provide leadership for problem solving and continuous improvement, and provide technical leadership, guidance and support to engineering teams as needed
- Set goals, evaluate performance and provide feedback and development opportunities for team members
- Identify and implement process improvements and/or new technologies to increase efficiency and productivity
- Assess and mitigate risks associated with Engineering projects
Academic And Educational Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in manufacturing, mechanical or industrial engineering or equivalent.
- Licensing by a provincial or territorial association of Professional Engineers is required to approve engineering drawings and reports and to practice as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.).
Required Skills And Experience
- 7-10 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Proven record of successful program launches.
- Advanced understanding of GD&T, APQP, FMEA, PPAP, process flow, control plans, ECNs, etc.
- In-depth knowledge of machining, manufacturing processes, process development and automation/advanced technology.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to analyze complex data.
- Team oriented with good ability to work cross-functionally.
- Good understanding of Financial Accounting.
- Solidworks/AutoCAD.
