The Engineering Intern supports substation design projects across the QISG platform.
The intern works with experienced engineers and designers on physical layouts, protection and control systems, and industry standards.
The role is intended for students pursuing electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering who want to learn about the energy industry.
What You’ll Do
- Assist with substation yard layouts, grounding, and control building arrangements.
- Support protection and control schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Help prepare design drawings, calculations, and bills of material.
- Learn and apply NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI engineering standards.
- Participate in quality reviews and collaborate with engineers to refine designs.
- Maintain project documentation and assist with engineering calculations.
- Attend team meetings and contribute to problem-solving discussions.
What You’ll Bring
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Interest in substation components and design principles.
- Familiarity with CAD tools and engineering software is a plus.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently in a dynamic environment.
