Data Engineer position in Bain & Company's TSG data engineering function in Delhi.
The role works on an Agile software development team building and supporting strategic internal enterprise-scale browser-based or mobile applications.
The position delivers application modules with minimal to no supervision and provides guidance to associate or entry-level engineers.
Technical Delivery
- Develop and update enterprise applications as part of an Agile team.
- Analyze stories, break down tasks, estimate work, and complete committed sprint deliverables.
- Use application infrastructure and architecture standards to develop scalable, performant features.
- Write and execute unit tests and participate in release testing and implementation.
- Support applications in use through diagnosis, resolution, reporting support, and database administration.
- Prepare technical documentation and contribute to process and standards improvement.
Research and Communication
- Evaluate new or supplemental technologies needed to deliver application functionality.
- Research tools and technologies for future initiatives and present findings to the Software Development team.
- Share concepts and technologies through internal skill development activities.
- Communicate technical findings, recommendations, impediments, and definition-of-done expectations.
- Provide input during sprint retrospectives.
Data Engineering Skills
- Languages include T-SQL, PySpark, Python, and Scala.
- Data platforms include Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL, Azure Data Lake, and Blob Storage.
- ETL and cloud tools include Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Logic Apps.
- Cloud and infrastructure work includes Microsoft Azure lakehouse architectures.
- DevOps tools include Azure DevOps, Git, and GitHub Actions.
- Additional technologies include MongoDB, Cosmos DB, Tableau, and Power BI.
About You
- Demonstrated knowledge of Agile software development methodologies and processes.
- Strong performance in prior software development positions.
- Strong communication, customer service, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated T-shaped behavior to manage conflicts and contingencies.
Experience and Education
- 2–4+ years of relevant data engineering experience.
- Experience developing enterprise-scale applications.
- Bachelor’s or equivalent degree.
