About the Role
StrategyConnect seeks a Mechanical & Civil Engineer with renewable energy sector experience for a 3-month on-site project in Abu Dhabi. The role provides engineering assurance across solar, wind, and storage assets, including design review, site inspections, and technical due diligence.

Responsibilities
- Review and validate mechanical design packages — module mounting structures, single/dual axis trackers, inverter and transformer platforms, wind turbine foundation and tower interfaces, BESS enclosures
- Oversee civil works including foundations, piling, access roads, site grading and drainage, cable trenching, and structural steelworks
- Lead technical due diligence on new asset acquisitions — structural surveys, geotechnical reviews, and condition assessments
- Manage the technical interface with EPC contractors — review IFC drawings, method statements, and QA/QC inspection plans
- Conduct site inspections, manage punch list close out, and issue mechanical/civil completion sign off
- Provide engineering support during commissioning, performance testing, and reliability/warranty runs
- Investigate mechanical and civil defects — foundation settlement, corrosion, tracker/structural fatigue — and lead root cause analysis (RCA)
- Ensure compliance with IEC, ASCE/AISC, ACI and applicable UAE / Abu Dhabi municipality codes and standards
- Prepare technical reports, RCA documentation, and responses to Lender's Engineer / independent engineer queries
- Support O&M teams on engineering escalations, life extension studies, and repowering/revamp assessments
Requirements
- Experience in renewable energy sector (solar, wind, storage)
- Mechanical and/or Civil engineering background
- Experience with design review, site inspections, and technical due diligence
- Knowledge of IEC, ASCE/AISC, ACI and UAE codes

Role Overview
- Provides site level and portfolio level engineering assurance across the mechanical and civil scope of solar, wind, and storage assets.
- Acts as the technical authority responsible for ensuring assets are designed, constructed, and maintained in line with international engineering codes, lender requirements, and client's technical standards throughout the project lifecycle.
