About Position

Engineer – Mechanical components , in the Large Generator COE (Center of Excellence ) is responsible for design & execution of generator mechanical components for large hydro projects. This role ensures key deliverables are met with high-quality standards and on-time execution. Design Engineers collaborates with Lead engineers & main project engineer to validate designs, resolve technical challenges, and contribute to continuous improvement.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Perform Basic Design, calculations & specification for Generator parts.
  • Checking of final manufacturing drawings and BoM coming from Product definition
  • Specify material, tolerances, assembly requirements and other design requirements.
  • Responsible to deliver design, drawing and BOMs as per project schedule & budget limits with right level of quality
  • Open mind, creative thinking, and cohesive team effort to maintain healthy group dynamics.
  • Responsible for timely execution of projects & his key deliverables, First pass yield, Validation of design through lead engineers & Consulting. Support to Supply chain during execution of parts.
  • Respects GE Vernova design practices & technical standards (Quality, TRS…), Understands Reliability / Safety / Cost .
  • Will work closely with supply chain & other functions & interfacing CoEs and Regions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) or above
  • Knowledge / Experience
  • At least 3 years in mechanical design of Hydro Generator. Total experience desired > 5 years
  • Experienced in Basic Design & calculations, Detail Engineering of Hydro Generator
  • Applied knowledge of Mechanical engg specifically strength of materials and mechanics
  • Exposure to materials, manufacturing Processes
  • Experienced in Design & Engineering Processes
  • Good level in ‘MS Office” Application
  • User Level SAP System, PLM (Enovia)
  • Experienced in 3D CAD System preferably UG NX
  • Behavioral and Technical Skills / Competencies
  • Communication, Inter-personal relationship
  • Pro-active & responsiveness
  • Shall be open minded, multicultural & shall be able to work efficiently with cross regional team of respective COEs
