Role Overview

The Loss Prevention Site Engineer implements and monitors loss prevention, safety, and risk management programs for construction, testing, and commissioning activities.

The role supports 440 kV substations and associated transmission line infrastructure and ensures compliance with client, statutory, international, and company HSE requirements.

The position is onsite in Doha, Qatar.

Contractor and Project Oversight

  • Follow up contractor work and control work procedures for compliance with tender specifications and general contract conditions.
  • Oversee erection, commissioning, testing, and implementation of loss prevention systems according to approved procedures and method statements.
  • Ensure installation, testing, and commissioning are performed according to approved documents and drawings.
  • Verify and approve materials against contract specifications and requirements.

Loss Prevention Systems

  • Monitor fire detection and alarm, deluge water spray, sprinkler, water mist, clean agent, and fire extinguisher systems.
  • Monitor transformer explosion prevention, fire pumps and controllers, passive fire protection, smoke extraction, lightning protection, and emergency lighting systems.
  • Monitor security management systems and required interfaces with loss prevention systems.
  • Coordinate interfaces among loss prevention, HVAC, smoke, security management, explosion prevention, substation control, and NCC systems.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or fire protection engineering from a reputed university.
  • Minimum six years of loss prevention engineering experience.
  • Experience on major transmission and water projects with knowledge of loss prevention system design, inspection, erection, and commissioning.
  • Experience preparing preliminary studies, tender documents, contract procedures, technical specifications, and bid evaluations.
  • Full familiarity with relevant international NFPA codes and standards.
  • Registered membership of NFPA, USA.
