What You Will Do
- Work under the guidance of Licensed Professional Engineers on transportation structures projects.
- Assist in the analysis and design of bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and related structural components.
- Support preparation of plans, specifications, and engineering calculations in accordance with AASHTO and state DOT standards.
- Utilize engineering software (e.g., MicroStation, OpenRoads, or structural analysis tools) to support design and drafting tasks.
- Aid in the development of 3D models and structural layouts for transportation infrastructure projects.
- Assist with quantity take-offs, cost estimating, and construction documentation.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on transportation projects including roadway, geotechnical, and hydrological analysis.
- Provide general project support across multiple assignments as needed.
- What You Will Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Structural emphasis preferred) from an ABET/EAC-accredited program.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification required
- 2+ years of relevant experience required, preferred in transportation structures or structural design.
- Familiarity with TxDOT DM-4 and AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications is a plus.
- Experience with MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer (ORD), Open Bridge or Civil 3D preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work collaboratively across teams.
- Eagerness to learn, grow, and develop technical expertise in transportation structures engineering.
