Summary
Engineering at Mortenson is different. Engineering Services is a dedicated in-house engineering organization that supports some of the most complex and impactful projects across North America. Our engineers contribute to a diverse portfolio spanning energy and transmission infrastructure, utility-scale renewable power, battery energy storage, data centers, manufacturing facilities, sports and entertainment venues, and other large-scale commercial and infrastructure developments. Rather than serving as a traditional consulting firm or performing field construction work, our engineers collaborate closely with project development, design, procurement, and construction teams to provide technical expertise, optimize designs, improve constructability, and solve complex challenges throughout the project lifecycle. This unique model allows engineers to see the direct impact of their work while enjoying diverse technical opportunities, cross-functional collaboration, and the backing of one of the nation's leading builders. If you're looking for a role where technical excellence, innovation, and real-world application come together, Engineering Services offers a unique opportunity to influence projects from concept through completion.
The Engineer III, or IV – Energy Storage Application Engineer – Electrical role is an electrical engineering position within Engineering Services that provides early-stage design creation and technical support to Utility Scale Battery Storage Projects through design phase, procurement, construction and commissioning stages of projects. This role supports Mortenson’s Storage and Supply Chain functions. This position is a technical expert providing engineering support across the lifecycle of energy storage projects and partners closely with Project Management, Supply Chain, Design, Construction, Commissioning, and Operations to support the technical evaluation, strategic sourcing, and standardization of battery energy storage systems and associated equipment (e.g., battery enclosures, power conversion systems, medium-voltage transformers, switchgear, energy management systems, controls, and fire/life-safety systems). The role provides lifecycle support from early project development and technology selection through design, procurement, construction, commissioning, turnover, and operational support, adjusting focus based on project demand.
This position offers opportunities at Engineer III, and Engineer IV levels, allowing candidates to apply based on their experience and qualifications.
