Position Overview

Qualifications and Experience

• B.E. or B.Tech. degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Requires 7–12 years of relevant experience in protection relay programming, testing, commissioning, and protection or control systems.
• Predominant experience with MV switchgear, control and relay panels, and electrical protection systems.

Protection Engineering Skills

• Hands-on experience with protection relay programming, configuration, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of overcurrent, earth fault, directional, voltage, frequency, transformer, motor, and busbar protection schemes.
• Ability to interpret single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and protection philosophies.

Relay Platforms and Testing

• Experience with ABB, Siemens, and Schneider Electric protection relays, including ABB Relion, Siemens SIPROTEC, Schneider Easergy/SEPAM, or equivalents.
• Experience with secondary injection, functional, trip, interlock, FAT, SAT, commissioning, site, and end-to-end protection testing.
• OMICRON or equivalent relay test equipment experience is preferred.

Communications and Integration

• Practical experience with Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP/IP, Profibus, Profinet, IEC 61850, and industrial Ethernet.
• Knowledge of IEC 61850 architecture, including IEDs, Station Bus, Process Bus, GOOSE, MMS, and SCL configuration.
• Experience integrating relays with PLC, RTU, SCADA, EPMS/BMS, and supervisory control systems.

Core Responsibilities

• Configure communication mappings for data points, alarms, status, commands, measurements, events, and protection signals.
• Troubleshoot networks, switches, VLANs, IP addressing, gateways, redundancy, and communication paths from relays through higher-level systems.
• Prepare relay setting files, test procedures, test reports, commissioning reports, and protection documentation.

System Validation

• Verify relay settings against approved protection coordination studies.
• Perform end-to-end testing and validate commands, statuses, alarms, trips, measurements, events, and interlocks.
