Position Summary

Product Engineer and design owner for large battery backup products deployed with Vertiv uninterruptible power supplies.

The role works with research and development, field service, technical writing, sales, and manufacturing engineering teams.

The position supports customer satisfaction and ongoing product design changes.

Responsibilities

  • Design and own large commercial battery backup systems using lithium-ion or other battery chemistries.
  • Prototype, test, and implement design changes for problem prevention, cost reduction, and product improvement.
  • Create and revise technical documentation and user manuals for products being launched.
  • Troubleshoot problems at customer sites and local factories, including regional visits to data centers approximately every 4 to 6 months.
  • Support quoting, sales, and customer problem resolution, and operate test equipment up to 700V and 1.6MW.
  • Design, build, and modify simple test equipment and coordinate engineering project tasks globally.

Minimum Qualifications

  • University degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
  • 4+ years of experience in an Electrical Engineer role.
  • Customer-oriented approach, travel availability, and good English language knowledge.
  • Strong planning, organizing, documentation, communication, teamwork, and project coordination skills.
  • Ability to occasionally lift objects up to 40 pounds to a height of 48 inches.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with analog or high-voltage circuit design, industrial equipment, power infrastructure, UPS, sensor and microprocessor integration, or lithium-ion battery management systems.
  • Experience certifying products through agencies such as UL or CSA.
  • Knowledge of NEC or NFPA 855 and experience using two-dimensional CAD are desirable but not required.
