The Engineer, Body Electronics Design is responsible for the end-to-end electrical hardware design and development of vehicle body electronics systems, including modules, sensors, and actuators for new vehicle lines.
This role oversees components throughout the entire product lifecycle—from concept development and virtual design to testing, validation, manufacturing launch, and production support.
• Be responsible for the electrical hardware design of all body electronics modules, sensors, and actuators under your span of control. You will cover from clean sheet of paper through virtual development, testing/sign-off and manufacturing launch for new vehicles.
• Work with Purchasing and Finance counterparts to develop technical specifications in support of the quoting and sourcing process.
• Work with Tier 1 suppliers, key OEM Group module owners, and OEM Group lead design & release engineers to release all appropriate body electronics components.
• Be part of a diverse team fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture, promoting continuous learning and professional development among team members.
• Perform virtual and physical verification testing, including field testing.
• Participate in DFMEA, ISO 26262, Worst Case Circuit Analysis and any other engineering activities aimed at meeting the highest engineering standards for all the components under your responsibility.
• Ensure designs conform to safety standards and U.S. government regulations.
• Proactively stay attuned to consumer experience and propose system improvements accordingly.
• Contribute to the design of production facilities for new vehicle lines
• Manage supplier resources efficiently to deliver components and systems that meet cost, timing, and quality targets.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or combined electrical/mechanical engineering, systems engineering, or a relevant field.
• 5+ years of experience in body electrical and/or electromechanical areas and relevant automotive assignments, covering all phases of product development (design, test, and launch).
• Strong technical skills and expertise in body control systems, employing a six sigma approach to engineering design and problem-solving.
• Familiarity with computer-aided engineering (CAE) or direct experience in this field.
• Ability to build strong working relationships with individuals at all organizational levels.
