Key skills for this role
A holder of a university degree (BSc, BEng, MSc, MEng) in Civil Engineering, Highways Engineering, or Transportation
Chartered (CEng)/incorporated (IEng) professional or working towards becoming chartered or incorporated engineer with ICE, CIHT or IHE
Experienced and knowledgeable about highways geometry, pavement design, signs & road markings, drainage, and vehicle restraint systems
Holder of a full driving licence
Holder of CSCS Card, SMSTS or equivalent
As a Highways Engineer, you'll be working within the highways design team, supporting them in the development and preparation of concept, preliminary and detailed design of a range of highway and infrastructure projects. We're seeking a talented Highways Engineer to enable our team in delivering innovative highway and infrastructure projects. This is an excellent opportunity to work collaboratively on a diverse range of schemes, from concept through to detailed design, whilst developing your skills and contributing to meaningful projects that make a real difference to communities. You'll be part of a supportive environment where your expertise will be valued and your professional development encouraged.
Your day to day will include:
Undertaking feasibility, preliminary and detailed design of highway maintenance and improvement schemes to DMRB and local authority standards using AutoCAD software
Working collaboratively with other design disciplines in Common Data Environments and acquiring knowledge through on-the-job learning
Developing engineering options for proposals with full consideration to safety, reliability, operational capacity, maintainability, and environmental issues
