Energy Engineer - Senior (Boston)

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or other relevant engineering field or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience working with HVAC systems in large multi-family and/or commercial buildings.
• Demonstrated experience with new construction commissioning, with responsibility for projects through both design and construction.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, equipment submittals, control diagrams, and trend data and make sound technical decisions.
• Experience developing scopes, budgets, staffing plans, and proposals for consulting projects.
• Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage scope, schedules, budgets, teams, deliverables, and client expectations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
• Interest in field work and comfort working in construction and occupied-building environments.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office.

• Experience with Massachusetts building and energy codes, utility programs, market participants, and project-delivery practices.
• Experience with existing-building commissioning, energy audits, decarbonization studies, energy modeling, or measurement and verification.
• Experience mentoring and training staff and reviewing technical work.
• Experience building or expanding a service offering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward licensure.
• Commissioning or energy credential such as BCxP, CCP, CxA, CEM, or LEED AP.

Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to type, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.

The employee frequently is required to climb stairs, use elevators and exterior construction hoists, and may be exposed to cold and hot interior and exterior temperatures for extended periods of time (when in the field).

Travel Requirements : Occasional overnight travel may be required (Less than 25%).

Frequent local field visits in the Boston Metro area will be necessary (approximately 40-50%).

• A valid driver’s license and clean driving record are required.

Working Environment: Recent hires may be required to work in-office five days per week during onboarding, with potential for a flexible schedule after necessary training and supervisor approval; all team members are expected in the office at least three days per week, with flexibility based on site work.
