Job Skills / Requirements

  • The Employee Care Advisor (Accommodations) manages employee accommodation and Return-to-Work (RTW) cases from initial assessment through implementation, monitoring, and closure. Working within a federally regulated, unionized environment and reporting to the Director, People & Culture, this role partners with employees, leaders, and internal and external stakeholders to find practical accommodation solutions that balance each employee's functional abilities with the operational requirements of the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a key point of contact for accommodation matters within the Employee Care function
  • Manage accommodation and RTW cases end to end, from initial assessment through implementation, monitoring, and closure
  • Partner with Operations, Scheduling, Training, and CATSA (Canadian Air Transport Security Authority) to confirm that proposed accommodations can be implemented effectively
  • Work with Labour Relations where an accommodation intersects with a collective agreement, grievance, discipline, attendance management, or other labour relations matters
  • Consult with People & Culture leadership on complex or sensitive cases
  • Communicate with employees in a respectful, clear, and timely manner about accommodation requirements and next steps
  • Maintain appropriate communication with unions and employee representatives
  • Work with external medical, occupational health, workers' compensation, and other service providers as required
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential case files, including assessments, discussions, decisions, follow-ups, and accommodation plans
  • Ensure medical information is stored separately and accessed only by those with a legitimate business need
  • Maintain case management trackers and systems, and prepare case summaries and reports for leadership
  • Support a consistent approach to accommodation across locations while assessing each employee's circumstances individually
  • Contribute to training for managers and leaders on accommodation and RTW responsibilities
  • Monitor trends and provide recommendations to Employee Care leadership
  • Champion PASS's C.A.R.E. culture and participate in projects that improve the employee experience
  • Other duties as needed

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Labour Relations, Disability Management, Occupational Health, Business Administration, or a related field
  • A minimum of 2 to 3 years of progressive experience in Human Resources, disability management, accommodation, employee relations, attendance management, or a related field (experience in a unionized or aviation/security setting is an asset)
  • Experience working with medical restrictions, functional abilities, and workplace accommodations
  • Strong understanding of accommodation and RTW principles, Human Rights legislation, and the Canada Labour Code
  • Experience working with collective agreements and Labour Relations
  • Experience with workers' compensation and occupational health processes
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt to different audiences while maintaining diplomacy and confidentiality
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Proven ability to build relationships and gain buy-in across diverse teams and stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Able to obtain a Transportation Security Clearance (TSC) and Federal Security Clearance
