Role Overview
Garmin is seeking a full-time Embedded Software Engineer 2 - Avionics for its corporate location in Olathe, Kansas, or Chandler, Arizona.
The role combines embedded software engineering with direct customer collaboration on customized avionics software and hardware solutions.
The engineer will work with aircraft original equipment manufacturers and integrate software for customer delivery.
Essential Functions
- Create and execute designs for small sets of new functionality using C, Python, or other selected languages.
- Develop software for safety-critical airframe-specific and airframe-independent functionality.
- Configure flight decks to meet customer requirements and integrate software for delivery.
- Perform root-cause analysis and outline corrective actions for technical problems.
- Mentor less experienced software engineers.
- Manage OEM relationships and advocate for customer requirements.
- Develop deliverables aligned with OEM engineering, flight-test, and production schedules.
- Coordinate with program, systems, test, human factors, and flight operations teams.
