What You’ll Accomplish

Drive the HDL (Hardware Description Language) system design and realisation.

Write the documentation of your circuits and verification tests.

Develop your experience in a broad range of electronics engineering subject areas.

Maintain the multidisciplinary collaboration with mechanical engineers, software engineers, physicists, working towards a common goal.

Play a key role in building control systems for quantum computers.

Maintain UQs’ position of using state of the art electronics solutions.

Help in the planning and scheduling of projects, reporting progress and issues.

Engage with project planning activities, risk management, and scheduling requirements.

Help with fast turn-around proof of concepts and feasibility discussions.

Develop a thorough understanding of the firmware and software used to control quantum computers.

The 3 Most Critical Attributes We’ll Use to Compare Candidates

Excellent knowledge of designing, developing, and testing digital logic circuits and systems using hardware description language (HDL) tools.

Good knowledge of electronics circuit theory, including programming and architecture design skills.

Familiarity with PCB schematic and layout using CAD tools, good manufacturing process knowledge and excellent verification/debug skills using electronics test equipment.

Must-have Skills

  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in high performance Electronics Design including Digital, Analog and Embedded.
  • Experience in HDL design and verification using Verilog, VHDL or System Verilog.
  • Use of spectrum analysers, oscilloscopes, and VNA.
  • Experience of FPGAs and embedded software engineering for real time systems.
  • Experience of working with suppliers and contractors.
  • Demonstrate a strong discipline for thorough documentation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Team Player.
  • At least 2.1 BEng/BSc Degree in Electronics Engineering or a related discipline.

Nice-to-have Skills

  • A background in one of RF engineering, Research, Metrology, and instrumentation.
  • Understanding of signal integrity, high speed digital, and EMC.
  • Experience of C and/or scripting languages e.g. Python and MATLAB.
  • Experience of LabVIEW.
  • Pragmatic approach to decision-making and design choices.
  • Team and/or project management experience.
