Purpose of the Role
BGIS is seeking an experienced Electrical Technician to support the maintenance and operation of one of South East Queensland's largest and busiest healthcare facilities. Reporting directly to the Team Leader, you will work collaboratively with both client and BGIS teams to deliver planned and reactive maintenance, ensure compliance with safety standards, and help create a safe environment for patients, visitors, and healthcare staff.
The ideal candidate will be a reliable and safety-focused tradesperson who enjoys working as part of a supportive team. You will bring a strong customer service mindset, take pride in delivering high-quality work, and be committed to maintaining critical electrical infrastructure in a healthcare environment. ⚡
Key Responsibilities
- Perform planned and reactive electrical maintenance across a large healthcare facility.
- Complete maintenance tasks and work orders within required timeframes.
- Maintain and repair electrical systems including emergency lighting, switchboards, and associated infrastructure.
- Support apprentices and share knowledge to help others develop their skills.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and service providers to ensure quality outcomes.
- Participate in the on-call roster and attend emergency call-outs when required.
- Follow all WHSE, quality, and environmental requirements.
- Build positive working relationships with hospital stakeholders, contractors, suppliers, and colleagues.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in maintenance and service delivery.
- Maintain accurate records using BGIS systems and processes.
Essential
Certificate III in Electrotechnology.
Qualified Supervisors Licence.
White Card (General Construction Induction Card).
1–5 years' experience in a similar electrical maintenance role (all levels encouraged to apply)
Strong fault-finding and problem-solving capability.
Ability to work safely and effectively within a regulated environment.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Current Australian Driver's Licence.
Desirable
Experience working in healthcare, commercial, facilities management, or critical environments.
Experience supporting or mentoring apprentices.
Experience working alongside subcontractors and multiple trades.
Exposure to planned preventative maintenance programs.
Familiarity with maintenance management systems.
