Role Overview

The Electrical Engineer - Substation will manage and coordinate planning, design, construction, testing, and commissioning for transmission GIS substation projects.

Projects cover electrical systems from 132kV to 400kV.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee electrical systems from construction through commissioning, including GIS switchgear, substation equipment, control protection, telecommunications, pre-commissioning testing, LDC integration, and plant commissioning.
  • Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents related to substations.
  • Coordinate contractors, suppliers, and vendors to procure project equipment, materials, and services.
  • Supervise installation, testing, and commissioning while ensuring compliance with specifications and safety regulations.
  • Conduct site inspections and quality assurance checks to verify electrical installation integrity and performance.
  • Resolve technical issues encountered during construction and operation.
  • Provide technical guidance to project teams, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Prepare progress reports, documentation, and as-built drawings for client approval.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 10+ years of electrical engineering experience focused on 132kV to 400kV transmission substation projects.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, electrical design software, and relevant engineering tools.
  • Strong knowledge of substation electrical systems, equipment, and components.
  • Experience with power distribution, protection schemes, and relay coordination.
  • Professional Engineer license is preferred.
