Role Overview
The Electrical Engineer - Substation will manage and coordinate planning, design, construction, testing, and commissioning for transmission GIS substation projects.
Projects cover electrical systems from 132kV to 400kV.
Responsibilities
- Oversee electrical systems from construction through commissioning, including GIS switchgear, substation equipment, control protection, telecommunications, pre-commissioning testing, LDC integration, and plant commissioning.
- Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents related to substations.
- Coordinate contractors, suppliers, and vendors to procure project equipment, materials, and services.
- Supervise installation, testing, and commissioning while ensuring compliance with specifications and safety regulations.
- Conduct site inspections and quality assurance checks to verify electrical installation integrity and performance.
- Resolve technical issues encountered during construction and operation.
- Provide technical guidance to project teams, subcontractors, and clients.
- Prepare progress reports, documentation, and as-built drawings for client approval.
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 10+ years of electrical engineering experience focused on 132kV to 400kV transmission substation projects.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, electrical design software, and relevant engineering tools.
- Strong knowledge of substation electrical systems, equipment, and components.
- Experience with power distribution, protection schemes, and relay coordination.
- Professional Engineer license is preferred.
