Barr is seeking an electrical engineer to join our Canadian team. In this hybrid role, you will support the electrical group, working as part of multidisciplinary project teams to provide electrical engineering and related technical expertise. Work will include integrating process, mechanical, and control requirements into comprehensive electrical systems. This person will also be responsible for managing projects, coaching and mentoring less-experienced staff, providing technical leadership, managing teams to meet clients' needs, and conducting business development activities. The work may involve short-term, out-of-town assignments.

Hybrid: a hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position can be based out of Barr’s Calgary, Alberta, or Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, offices.
Travel expectation: up to 10–15 percent domestic fieldwork.
Work environment: ability to work in locations that feature the rough terrain typical of construction sites. Safety training will be provided prior to being given work assignments on these sites. Education: bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
Experience: at least 5 years of related experience working in a design capacity on projects directly related to job responsibilities described above. Experience in an industrial production environment such as mining and/or minerals processing, power plants, petroleum refining, or chemical production facilities. Working knowledge of codes, standards, laws, and regulations applicable to the project assignments described above.

Licenses/certifications: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng.) license in at least one U.S. or Canadian jurisdiction.

Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without the need for sponsorship from Barr Ltd., now or in the future.
10+ years of related experience.
Experience with AutoCAD.
Demonstrated project organization and management skills.
Experience with SKM Power Tools or E-Tap software for coordination and arc flash studies.
Client-relationship and business-development skills.
Experience with Rockwell Automation/Allen Bradley PLC and HMI programming software.
Experience with start-up/commissioning of industrial projects.
