Your Opportunity
Join Stantec’s Energy team in western Canada to work on HV/EHV AC and DC substation projects throughout North America.
The Electrical Engineer-in-Training will report to the Electrical Team Lead and work under a Senior Engineer’s supervision to develop engineering design skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform power flow, short-circuit, grounding, lightning protection, insulation coordination, cable ampacity, and bus studies.
- Conduct detailed substation design, including layouts, grounding plans, cable routing, AC/DC distribution, diagrams, and calculations.
- Prepare technical specifications for equipment, construction, testing, and commissioning.
- Provide technical support for procurement, construction, and commissioning.
- Assist with proposals, project plans, and estimates.
- Coordinate with other disciplines to resolve technical issues.
- Follow internal QA/QC procedures and provide high-quality engineering services.
- Conduct site visits to verify installations, define scope, support design, and assist construction.
- Complete drafting work when required for project deliverables.
Capabilities and Credentials
- Experience with PSSE, PSCAD, ETAP, CDEGS, WinIGS, or MathCAD is an asset.
