Role overview

The Electrical Engineer I joins the spacecraft team to develop board-level hardware.

The role includes PCB implementation, design through production, subsystem definition, integration, and troubleshooting.

The position offers mentorship and growth alongside experienced hardware, software, FPGA, thermal, and mechanical engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Translate spacecraft requirements into robust hardware designs aligned with system performance, reliability, and mission objectives.
  • Own board-level development from design through production.
  • Contribute to subsystem definition, integration, and troubleshooting across the spacecraft lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with broader cross-functional engineering teams.

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • At least 1 year of electronics hardware development experience.
  • Proficiency with EDA tools such as Altium and PCB layout experience.
  • Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, electronic loads, and signal generators.
  • Experience creating and editing block diagrams.
  • Ability to conduct trade studies on parts or technical direction.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
  • Strong electrical engineering fundamentals and persistence in solving difficult problems.

Preferred experience

  • Simulation or analysis experience in power integrity, signal integrity, or worst-case circuit analysis.
  • Experience using LTSpice for circuit or system simulations.
  • Advanced coursework in analog, digital, RF, or power electronics hardware.
  • Experience with microcontroller or FPGA-based systems.
  • Programming fundamentals such as C/C++ or Python.
  • Familiarity with EMI/EMC concepts and mitigation design.
  • Relevant engineering competition involvement.
