E-Learning Assistant / Online Tutor / Academic Support Assistant

Role overview

Key responsibilities

• Provide academic support, tutoring, study planning, and learning guidance through digital platforms.
• Explain concepts clearly and adapt support to different learner abilities, paces, and objectives.
• Monitor attendance, participation, engagement, assignments, and learner progress.
• Provide feedback and assist with quizzes, assessments, examinations, and practice tests.
• Prepare, upload, organize, and maintain course materials in learning-management systems.
• Support virtual classrooms, webinars, workshops, forums, schedules, reminders, and learner communications.
• Coordinate with instructors, tutors, advisors, program coordinators, parents, and guardians where appropriate.
• Maintain learner records, progress notes, communications, tutoring sessions, and support documentation.
• Support platform onboarding, provide basic technical assistance, and escalate complex issues.
• Moderate online discussions, identify learners needing additional help, and make appropriate referrals.
• Collect feedback, assist with reports and quality initiatives, and identify process improvements.
• Protect confidentiality and follow institutional, safeguarding, academic-integrity, data-protection, and UAE requirements.

Requirements

• Knowledge of at least one academic subject suitable for tutoring or learner support is required.
• Excellent spoken and written English, presentation, explanation, communication, and interpersonal skills are required.
• Applicants must be patient, encouraging, approachable, student-focused, organized, and able to manage competing tasks.
• Applicants must be comfortable working independently in a fully remote learning environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and online learning platforms is required.
• A relevant bachelor’s degree and three or more years of relevant experience are preferred.
• Experience with Moodle, Canvas, Blackboard, Google Classroom, TalentLMS, or comparable LMS platforms is advantageous.
• Familiarity with digital teaching tools and online assessment systems is advantageous.
• Additional languages, UAE or GCC education experience, and relevant certifications are advantageous but not required.
