Role Overview
The Duct Fabricator produces HVAC ductwork, fittings, and accessories for project installation teams.
The role involves sheet metal fabrication, machinery operation, quality inspection, material control, and coordination with the HVAC Foreman.
Responsibilities
- Fabricate HVAC ductwork and fittings from approved drawings and fabrication details.
- Read fabrication drawings, duct layouts, and cutting schedules.
- Measure, cut, bend, fold, notch, and assemble galvanized iron, stainless steel, and aluminum sheets.
- Install stiffeners, flanges, cleats, corners, and reinforcements.
- Operate shears, press brakes, lock machines, notchers, rollers, grooving machines, and spot welders.
- Inspect components, meet dimensional and quality requirements, and minimize material waste.
- Maintain equipment and work areas, coordinate schedules, and support loading and storage.
- Follow HSE policies and use appropriate PPE.
Qualifications
- ITI or trade certificate in Sheet Metal, Mechanical, HVAC, or an equivalent technical trade.
- Three to five years of experience as a Duct Fabricator in HVAC projects.
- Industrial project experience and experience with galvanized iron, stainless steel, and aluminum ductwork are preferred.
Work Conditions
- Work may take place outdoors under varying weather conditions.
- The role may require work on high platforms or in confined spaces.
- Overtime or extended shifts may be required based on project deadlines.
