Driver

This position requires:

• 12th standard from a government recognized school. An acceptable combination of education and experience will be considered.

The Following languages and proficiency levels are required for this job.

Candidates will be formally assessed or requested to provide proof of certification on these levels.

• A basic proficiency level (reading, writing, comprehension, and speaking) in English.
• A basic proficiency level (reading, writing, comprehension, and speaking) in Hindi.

In order to perform the duties relevant to this job, the following experience is required.

• Minimum of 2 years of passenger car driving experience with a multinational company (ex: major hotel chain)/ diplomatic mission/ or personal driver to a diplomat or official driver for a federal or state level government agency.
• Experience working in client-service oriented environment, including the delivery of courteous and effective in-person service.
• Experience in running errands. (may include, but not limited to: delivering packages, mail or other items, undertake vehicle administrative duties and simple reporting).

All competencies will be assessed.

All competencies must be met prior to appointment.

• Knowledge of local routes of Delhi city, National Capital Region (NCR) and surrounding areas.
• Knowledge of local traffic rules and safe driving regulations and practice
• Knowledge of automotive maintenance.
• Ability to use a computer, MS-Office and Smartphone
• Thinking Things Through - Ability to use navigation/GPS systems, judge distance and driving time.
• Oral Interaction - Ability to communicate effectively.

Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications.

Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications.

• Fluency in French.

Operational requirements will be assessed on a meet/does not meet basis and can be used to determine right fit of a candidate for the position.

• Hours of Work: Normal hours of work of work for this position are in accordance with Locally-Engaged Staff regulations of 48 hours per week.
• Must be available to work on shift hours
• Overtime: Willingness to work overtime on short notice.

Conditions of employment must be met or complied with before being appointed to a particular position.

They are to be maintained throughout the employment period.

• Valid work authorization: Ability to obtain and hold a valid work authorization covering the entire employment period.
• Security screening: Obtain and maintain a Reliability Status (security level) which includes a criminal and credit background check from the Government of Canada.
• Must hold a valid 4 wheeler driving license in India.
• The successful candidate must be in excellent health with excellent vision. Prior to being hired to this position, the successful candidate will be required to pass a complete medical examination (funded by the mission), including an eye test before being offered a position in the High Commission of Canada, New Delhi.
