Career Requirements
- REQUIREMENTS FOR Drafter II:
- Associate degree in Drafting or equivalent from two-year college or technical school. 2 years of drafting experience and high school diploma or equivalent may substitute for education. • Minimum of 2 years of related steel experience required. • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret drawings, specifications, and technical procedures. • Clear understanding of all steel designations on contract drawings. • Ability to detail a medium difficulty project without constant supervision. • Capacity to function as a checker for both easy and medium difficulty work. • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate with both internal and external customers. • PC skills to include the following software: AutoCAD and Microsoft Suite of Products. Revit or BlueBeam skills a plus.
- REQUIREMENTS FOR Drafter III:
- Minimum of 8 years of related steel experience. • Ability to detail complex projects without constant supervision. • Capacity to consistently function as a checker for any type of project regardless of complexity. • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate with both internal and external customers. • PC skills to include the following software: AutoCAD and Microsoft Suite of Products. Revit or BlueBeam skills a plus.
- PHYSICAL DEMANDS: • Frequent communication with others to exchange information. • Frequent repetition of motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers. • Frequent moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another. • Occasional adjusting or moving objects up to 20 pounds in all directions. • Constantly remaining in a stationary position, often sitting or standing for prolonged periods. • Constant use of computer for prolonged periods. • Constantly thinking and processing information. • Constantly maintaining concentration and focus on tasks.
- WORK ENVIRONMENT: • General office environment. • May require occasional exposure to production area with airborne particles, loud noises, and extreme heat and cold. Personal protection equipment is required when entering manufacturing plant.
