About the Role

Lead the management and performance of the Ship Management business unit, including financial management, HR, crewing, HSSEQ, operations, and technical oversight.

Ensure the safe, efficient, cost-effective, compliant operation of the DPW Express RoRo-Pax vessel and spot-market tugs.

Lead the local team and develop talent while delivering reliable services aligned with contractual and business objectives.

The role is based in Dubai and may involve worldwide travel, including short-notice and extended overseas assignments.

Ship Management

  • Maintain fleet readiness and compliance with statutory and charter obligations.
  • Manage technical projects including dry dockings, installations, and conversions.
  • Inspect vessels and verify cargo, safety, security, lifesaving, and other shipboard equipment.
  • Manage vessel vetting, client inspections, port state control observations, and non-conformities.
  • Conduct sea-riding voyages and advise Masters and senior officers on operational standards.
  • Coordinate with port authorities and organizations involved in port operations.

Financial and Resource Management

  • Meet EBITDA, budget, and cost-control targets for the Ship Management business unit.
  • Monitor vessel operating costs, financial variances, expenses, and asset acquisition planning.
  • Ensure statutory, class, company, and client crewing requirements are met.
  • Oversee recruitment, employee relations, leave liabilities, and personnel matters.

Chartering and Business Growth

  • Develop spot-market tug opportunities across the Middle East, Africa, and relevant industry segments.
  • Build networks with clients, brokers, marine warranty surveyors, agents, and other maritime stakeholders.
  • Negotiate charter parties and BIMCO contracts and support proposals, invoicing, collections, and contract renewals.
  • Analyze competitors and identify opportunities to improve value and grow the business.

Leadership and HSSEQ

  • Lead subordinate staff, manage performance development, identify training needs, and resolve grievances.
  • Maintain compliance with quality, environmental, health, safety, ISPS, ISM, and ISO frameworks.
  • Coordinate audits, incident investigations, emergency drills, corrective actions, and safety improvements.
  • Contribute to sustainability goals including waste, electricity, and carbon-emission reduction.

Qualifications and Experience

  • 1st Class Master Mariner with Certificate of Competency.
  • Fluent spoken and written English; Arabic, French, and Spanish are additional advantages.
  • Basic financial management, P&L, and budgeting literacy.
  • Substantial tug-industry and shore-based ship-management experience.
  • Knowledge of marine quality and safety management systems.
  • Microsoft Office and relevant software proficiency.
  • A management degree is preferred; ISM Auditor accreditation is preferred.
